Vertical city where only the sea is horizontal, used in Roman times as a holiday resort, it’s the first city of the famous Amalfi coast, reaching it by car you get the impression that Positano emerges from the rock every morning, instead it has been there for thousands of years, only going down to the center can you have the perception of being in a unique place, the road has only one direction of travel given the small size of the place, the narrow alleys overlooking the sea make it perfect for those who love picturesque photography, crossing from Piazza dei Mulini, descending towards the beach, you arrive at the church of Santa Maria Assunta, which stands a few meters from the beach, from there you can have a spectacular view, other places of interest are, the recently inaugurated Roman archaeological museum, an archaeological site consisting of two crypts, the frescoes in the imperial era style are the only example of wall paintings of Roman villas on the amalfi coast. In the late Middle Ages the coast was fortified with watch towers, the oldest tower is that of the bank, whose cylindrical shape is still recognizable today, which was typical in the Angevin era, datable to the thirteenth century. In the middle between Fornillo beach and Marina Grande is the Trasìta tower, datable to the viceregal age, in 1817 it was sold, and from that moment it is private property. One of the most popular activities of Positano is the path of the Gods, which consists of a walking path on rustic and rocky roads, which starts from Bomerano, and ends in the upper part of Positano
